Road Accident Near Esplanade

  Kolkata, 9th May: A man was killed while two people were reportedly injured after being involved in a road accident – according to a police report. The three victims were aboard a motorcycle that crashed at Esplanade in Kolkata around 6.40 in the morning. Killed was Suleiman Molla, 21, while injured were Sultana and Rajju Seikh, all residents of Khidirpore. Initial investigation showed that all the three victims were without helmets. The road was blocked briefly by the passengers. The police came immediately and normalcy was restored. The two victims sustained injuries in several parts of the body and were rushed to SSKM Hospital for treatment.

2) Write a report for a newspaper using the following information.

POINTS: Five hundred daily passengers blocked railway tracks near Uttar, Reasons: one of the boys was injured by some weapons when there was a clash between the passengers of a Howrah bound Amritsar Mail and the daily commuters, services resumed after several hours following police intervention.

Uttarpara, 10th February: Yesterday, around five hundred daily passengers blocked the railway tracks near Uttarpara, crashing complete disruption of rail services of Howrah division. The trouble started when the commuters tried to enter Howrah bound Amritsar Mail which accidentally stopped at Uttarpara. The passengers of the train resisted the mob and a clash broke out between the passengers and the daily commuters. A boy was injured during this, alleged by a sword. A large police force reached the spot immediately. The blockade was cleared after police assured the angry commuters that the culprit would be arrested. Several trains were cancelled and normalcy was not restored till the news went to the press.

3) As a reporter of an English newspaper, write a report using the following information

Orissa, 12 September: Yesterday a severe cyclone, travelling at 80 kilometres per hour, hit the coastal areas of Orissa at 5.40 pm. Huge tidal waves washed over Puri and Baleswar, and road and electricity infrastructure was severely damaged. There were casualties too but it was not yet estimated as many areas are still cut off. More than 10,000 people were rendered homeless. The train services were also heavily disrupted. Immediate relief was provided by the State Government as people flooded in with medicine, clothing, food and other necessary supplies. Many NGOs have also sent their representatives to provide aid to the victims.

An Honest Taxi Driver Who Returned The Ornaments Of A Woman

Coochbehar,25th March: It can be said that humanity is still alive when the deed of a taxi driver Shibu is seen. On the stormy night yesterday an elderly woman, Geeta, boarded Shibu’s taxi from her doctor’s chamber in DBC road. As she left the taxi near her South colony home, she forgot to take her bag . Shibu found the bag while cleaning the taxi in his garage. Opening it he found that it was full of ornaments. He at once rushed to the South colony home of the elderly lady and returned it. Overjoyed, Geeta offered him money but he refused and headed home.

Massive Fire Broke Out At Akra Fatak Market

Metiabruz, 30 October: A massive fire broke out last night at the local daily market at Metiabruz Akra Fatak area. Three fire engines rushed to the spot to douse the fire. There has been no injury, as the fire broke out late at night when no one was present. The fire started at a shop which had a huge stock of inflammable articles and it spread rapidly to the entire market. Locals said that more than 50 shops were gutted. Police sealed the shop with an illegal stockpile of explosives and fireworks from where the fire started. They also arrested the owner. Immeasurable loss is apprehended due to this destructive fire.
