1) Write a paragraph on “Safe Drive Safe Life” campaign with the help of the following points:

POINTS: Grim situation of road accidents in the state- “Safe Drive Safe Life” to curb road accidents initiated by Chief Minister of West Bengal – launched on 8th July, 2016- from Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata – carried out across the state each year- accidents in Kolkata have come down nearly 35 per cent.

Recognizing the grim situation of road accidents in the state, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Banerjee, initiated a campaign across the state – named as ” Safe Drive, Safe Life” – to curb road accidents and fatalities. The campaign was launched on 8th July, 2016 from Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata. Since then the “Safe Drive, Safe Life” campaign is carried out across the state as a movement and just not as a campaign. Different functions are organized to mark the movement each year. It has been found that accidents in Kolkata have come down by nearly 35 per cent in the last two years due to this campaign.

Dengue

Dengue fever, also known as breakbone fever, is a tropical disease. It is caused by a family of viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes. The symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. Dengue may develop into a life-threatening disease resulting in low level of blood platelets and plasma. The treatment of dengue is done either using oral or intravenous rehydration. Blood transfusion is done in more serious cases. Precautions must be taken by reducing the habitat and number of mosquitoes and limiting exposure to bites.

3) Write a paragraph on the “Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)” with the help of the following points:

Coronavirus Disease (COVID – 19)

Coronavirus disease (COVID – 19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. It causes mild to moderate respiratory illness and does not have any social treatment. However, older people and those with pre-existing medical problems are more likely to develop serious illness. The COVID – 19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The chances of infection can be reduced by washing one’s hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently, and not touching the face. In the meantime, several vaccines have been developed worldwide. The first mass vaccination programme started in early December 2020.

POINTS: A school meal programme of the Government of India – free lunches on working days – for all students in primary and upper primary classes – serving 120,000,000 children in over 1,265,000 schools – the largest of its kind in the world – content of 300 calories of energy and 8 – 12 gram protein per day served to each primary student – for minimum of 200 days – 700 calories and 20 gram protein – for upper primary stage – hope

The Mid-day Meal Scheme is a school meal programme of the Government of India. The programme supplies free lunches on working days for all students in primary and upper primary classes in different schools and education centres. Serving 120,000,000 children in over 1,265,000 schools under the scheme, it is the largest of its kind in the world. Under the scheme a prepared Mid-day Meal with a minimum content of 300 calories of energy and 8 – 12 grams protein per day is served to each primary student for a minimum of 200 days. The nutritional norm for upper primary stage was fixed at 700 calories and 20 grams of protein. The expectation is that this scheme will attract more poor children to schools.

How to Take Care of Street Dogs

Cruelty to street dogs is not something new, and often that crosses all the limits. Dogs are most often pelted with stones, beaten with sticks and some even tie burning crackers to their tails! But in actuality these poor dogs do not harm us at all if loved just little. Mere half-rotten leftovers and soggy biscuits are sufficient for them. In return they gratefully fill up our much lonely vacant hours with devotion and faithfulness. They also guard our locality. If these dogs are properly vaccinated and taken just little care of, they may become our true companions. We should realise that they are after all our true companions.
