Biography Writing Skill:

1) Write a biography on Sri Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, the 13th President of India, with the help of the following points.

POINTS: Born on 11 December 1935 – in Mirati Village in West Bengal – attended Suri Vidyasagar College in Birbhum – MA in political science and history – also an LLB – 1969: got elected to the Rajyasabha – political career spanned decades – senior leader in the Indian National Congress – minister of several portfolios – died on 31 August 2020, aged 84

PRANAB KUMAR MUKHERJEE

Sri Pranab Kumar Mukherjee was the 13th President of India. He was born on 11 December 1935 in Mirati Village in West Bengal. Pranab Mukherjee attended Suri Vidyasagar College in Birbhum. He subsequently earned an MA degree in political science and history and an LL.B degree, both from the university of Calcutta. Pranab Mukherjee got his break in politics in 1969 when he got elected to the Rajya sabha. His political career spanned five decades. He was a senior leader in the Indian National Congress and occupied several ministerial portfolios in the Government of India. Mukherjee died on 31 August 2020, aged 84.

2) Write a biography of Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee, who has got the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel, informally known as The Novel Memorial Prize in Economic Science in 2019 along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer for outstanding contribution to the field of economics. You may use the following points.

ABHIJIT VINAYAK BANERJEE

Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee is an eminent American economist who shared the 2019 Novel Memorial Prize in Economic Science with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer. He was born in Mumbai on February 21,1961. Both of his parents are noted economists. He studied in South Point High School, Presidency College, Kolkata and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. He obtained a Ph. D. in Economics at Harvard University. He is currently the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also taught at Harvard University and Princeton University. His work mainly focuses on development economics. Based on his work , the WHO and UN promote subsidised heath care for the poor.

PUSARLA VENKATA SINDHU

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, popularly known as P. V. Sindhu, an Indian professional badminton player, is a true international idol. Born on 5 July, 1995 in Hyderabad the state of Telengana, Sindhu made her international debut in 2009. Over the course of her career, Sindhu has won medals at numerous tournaments on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) circuit including a gold at the 2019 World Championship. She is just the second woman to win five or more medals at the World Championships. Sindhu won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. She is the recipient of the sports honour Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, and India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padmashri. She is our pride.

4) Write a biography of Sourav Ganguly who has recently been elected the new BCCI President. You may use the following points.

POINTS: Former Indian cricketer and captain, cricket commentator – born on 8 July, 1972 – in Kolkata – affectionately known as ‘Dada’ – awarded the Padmashri in 2004 – retired in 2008 from international cricket – one of the world’s leading batsmen – one of the greatest Indian captains – currently the President of the Board of control for cricket in India.

SOURAV GANGULY

Sourav Ganguly, affectionately known as ‘Dada’ is a former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian National team as well as a popular cricket commentator. He was born on 8 July, 1972 in Kolkata. He was awarded the Padmashri in 2004. In 2008 after the home Test Series against Australia, he announced his retirement from international cricket. During his playing career, Ganguly established himself as one of the world’s leading batsmen and also one of the greatest captains of the Indian National cricket team. He earned the nickname ‘God of the off side’ for his elegant stroke play. Currently, he has been appointed as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

5) Write a biography of Virat Kohli using the following points.

He is an occasional right-handed batsman as well as a right-arm medium pacer and an exceptional fielder. Born on 5 November 1988, in Delhi to Prem Kohli, a criminal lawyer and Saroj Kohli, a homemaker. Kohli showed interest in cricket at the age of three, and enrolled himself at the West Delhi Cricket Academy when nine. He played his first match in Test Cricket in 2011, and became the captain of the Indian team in 2004. He scored more than 7000 runs in Test Matches and more than 12000 runs in One Day International ones. He received the Arjuna Award in 2003. Virat is, definitely, our pride.
